Data Scientist (100%)

THE ROLE:

We're looking for a Data Scientist with a passion for elite sports and a knack for turning complex data into competitive advantage. You'll collaborate with athletes, coaches, performance staff, management and engineers to optimise performance though data insights.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with the coaches to provide data driven insights from training and races to identify trends, strengths, and opportunities.
Develop predictive models for athlete readiness, fatigue, and performance optimization.
Work closely with performance staff and coaches to translate data insights into actionable strategies.
Design and implement dashboards and visualizations for technical and non-technical audiences.
Integrate data from various sources (e.g., wearables, training platforms, nutrition logs, sleep trackers).
Contribute to R&D projects involving machine learning, aerodynamics, pacing tools.
Maintain data pipelines and collaborate on building our performance database infrastructure to streamline workflows.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

You have:

Degree in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in data science or analytics (experience in sports is a big plus).
Strong Python or R skills, with experience in machine learning, statistics, and data visualization (e.g., using libraries like pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib, seaborn, Plotly, etc.) [JL1]
Abillity to produce UI (dash/PyQt) to make data accessable to team members
Familiarity with SQL and data management best practices.
Experience working with sports performance data (e.g., TrainingPeaks, WKO, Golden Cheetah, or similar).
A strong grasp of physiological principles and athlete monitoring.
