Florian Stork finished second on Stage 2 of the Giro d’Italia in Bulgaria following a dramatic finale marked by a major crash inside the final 20km, leading to a temporary neutralization of the race. After the stage resumed with 18km remaining, the first climbing test of the race saw Tudor Pro Cycling well positioned, with Mathys Rondel and Michael Storer both inside the Top 20 over the KOM.

Inside the final 10km into the downhill, a chase group of around 30 riders formed behind the 3 riders in the front, with Florian Stork also present to represent Tudor alongside Mathys and Michael. As the front trio failed to work together, the chasing group closed the gap in the final hundred meters. Florian then launched his sprint to cross the line in 2nd place, just centimeters behind the stage winner.

The result marks the German’s second runner-up finish at the Giro d’Italia and moves him into second place in the General Classification.

Florian: “The finale was quite crazy with the big crash and the stress for first climb of this Giro d’Italia. Once we came back in the downhill, the finish was very technical, but it was good from our side to be there at the front with three guys with Mathys and Michael. I chose the right wheel to launch my sprint - just a few centimeters were missing, but hopefully I can find them back over the next three weeks.”
