La Vuelta – A Grand Tour to Remember

The season’s final Grand Tour concludes with two stage victories for Tudor Pro Cycling – a Grand Tour to remember and a milestone achievement in the Team’s young history.

Granada on a Sunday evening in mid-September: the peloton circles through the city best known for the mighty Alhambra. On this evening, however, the spotlight is on something different. It’s La Vuelta. The Spanish Grand Tour, racing its final meters after an attritional three weeks that began in Monaco, crossed the Pyrenees and Spain’s southwest. This marks Tudor Pro Cycling’s inaugural La Vuelta - and the first time the Team has competed in and completed all three Grand Tours in a single season.

Stage 14 and Stage 18 - two stage wins for Tudor Pro Cycling - are stories for the Team’s history books. It’s the Team’s first Grand Tour stage win, and a first for Marco Brenner. Stefan Küng’s emotional and impressive ITT victory, after returning from a severe injury sustained in late February, added another unforgettable moment. Every win has its story, and these are the stories that endure - within the Team, among the fans, and in the Team’s legacy.

Following the victory of Stefan Küng last Thursday, Fabian Cancellara emphasized the impact and importance of the recent success for the Team: “This Vuelta is a huge boost for us and gives us even more motivation for the rest of the season!” and concluded: We’re proud of what we’ve achieved here and hungry for what’s still to come."

Sports Director Sylvain Blanquefort concludes: “It’s been an incredible Vuelta. We aimed for a stage win and finished with two, marking our first Grand Tour triumph. Whenever we could fight for a result, we raced with focus and commitment. The recent success is also built on the Team’s spirit and positive atmosphere on-site. We can be proud - everyone played a part in this achievement.”
