“Our only goal: stage wins,” says Sports Director Addy Engels. “Julian Alaphilippe and Marc Hirschi are our breakaway specialists. We see their chances on numerous stages, especially on those days with punchy finals, that match their abilities.”
For classic-style stages and tough reduced sprints, Matteo Trentin and Rick Pluimers are our key contenders. “These are the stages too tough for pure sprinters, and we’re ready to seize our chances,” Engels adds.
Making his Grand Tour debut, Arvid de Kleijn leads the Team in the pure bunch sprints. The Dutch sprinter, who already scored 13 wins in the colours of Tudor Pro Cycling, comes back from a difficult period (read more here) and only returned to racing in mid-May at Rund um Köln. “He’s back in strong form and one to watch for those high-speed 'Sprint Royal' days,” Engels notes.
In the mountains - the Pyrenees, Massif Central, Vosges, and Alps - Michael Storer and Yannis Voisard will target breakaways and chase stage glory.
Veteran Marco Haller brings invaluable Tour de France experience to guide the Team through his 11th 'Grand Boucle'. His leadership will be crucial for the younger riders - and he’s a threat in breakaways and reduced sprints himself.
