Swiss U23 rider Roman Holzer took his BMC Fourstroke out for the most prestigious round of the UCI MTB World Series round in Nove Mesto Na Morave, Czechia, late May.
“Racing MTB alongside my road program provides me with a unique opportunity to challenge myself in different ways and improve my skills as a well-rounded cyclist" explained Roman. I value the chance to do some off-road racing. And although my training was much more road-based, I enjoyed MTB action.”
A total of three MTB races were included in Roman’s race calendar this season: a round of the ÖKK Bike Revolution in Chur, the HC event in Haiming, Austria and the third round of the UCI MTB Series in Nove Mesto.
For Team Coach Jens Voet, this choice was a no-brainer: "As Roman has an MTB background it fitted ideal into the preparation plan to do some MTB races as well this year. He really enjoys it, it gives him a lot of pleasure which makes it mentally easier to execute the trainings. And due to the varying terrain of mountainbiking it is also a supergood stimulus for the road races. The varying and high pace will prepare him well for some big climbs in the Giro Next Gen coming up soon!”
