Arvid de Kleijn delivers the first ever World Tour victory to Tudor Pro Cycling. On stage 2 of Paris-Nice, the Tudor train led out a perfect sprint, which saw the Dutch man take his first victory of the year, as well as his first World Tour victory ever.
Tudor Pro Cycling made great debuts in their first Paris-Nice. Stage 2 was set to be one for the sprinters and the team did not want to miss the opportunity. “It was already some time I was chasing a World Tour victory and it’s so nice to get it like this.” said Arvid in his post-race interview. “It was such a great team performance: we stayed really calm. Matteo (Trentin) knows exactly what to do and he told us to stay calm till the end, and he did an amazing pull. I then had the two Dutchies (Rick Pluimers and Maikel Zijlaard) in front of me who did an incredible job. We are making big steps and I am happy to see that I can still make improvements and it’s special to be doing this with the guys!”
It is not only Arvid but an entire team who is celebrating today. For team CEO Raphael Meyer “this is the first World Tour victory for our team and a huge step for our organisation. The magnitude of this victory is one thing, the way the boys rode today is another. We couldn‘t be prouder”.
Fabian Cancellara is also extremely happy: “This season already started well for us. It showed how big of a step we took as a team. But this victory at Paris-Nice is a huge leap and shows that we can compete with the best teams in the world.”
Like the 13th of March 2023 and the first victory of the team at Milano-Torino (with Arvid De Kleijn too), the 4th of March 2024 and this first World Tour win will forever be remembered as a milestone in Tudor Pro Cycling’s history.
