Michael Storer Claims Overall Victory at Tour of The Alps

25.04.2025

After a triumphant Stage 2 win and taking the leader’s jersey on Stage 3, Michael Storer and Tudor Pro Cycling faced a setback on Stage 4. An early breakaway made it all the way to the finish, narrowly stealing the overall lead from Storer by just 11 seconds.

Heading into the final stage of the Tour of the Alps with everything still to play for, Tudor Pro Cycling was ready to shake things up. In a perfectly executed plan, Lucas Eriksson jumped into the early breakaway, positioning himself ahead on the road to support Storer later, while the rest of the team protected their leader in the peloton.

With 34 kilometers to go, Storer launched a daring attack on the penultimate climb, carving out a 10-second lead over GC rival Thymen Arensman. A fearless descent followed, leading to a perfectly timed meeting with Eriksson - who had been waiting in the breakaway all day for this very moment.

The two went all-out in a team time trial-style effort, eating into the gap and putting the pressure on the GC contender across the valley flat. Then came the final test: a brutal 3 km climb at 12%.

Michael surged ahead solo, chasing down the front of the race.

He crossed the line in 8th place, but with a 1'44" gap over Arensman - it was more than enough. Two years after finishing second in 2022, he finally sealed a superb overall victory in the Tour of the Alps - a huge win for Tudor Pro Cycling.

Michael: “I’m super happy with how the whole week went, and especially today. Ineos set a strong pace early, which let us save energy and launch the move on the second time up Bannberg. The guys were amazing - we didn’t put a foot wrong. Having Lucas in the breakaway was huge - he did an excellent job and was crucial in the valley to maintain the timegap.”

Looking back at the race, Storer didn’t hold back on how tough it was: “I knew I was in good shape coming in, but that wasn’t enough. I had to attack basically every day to deserve this win. The nature of the course - harder than ever - and the tactics were all determinants of my success.”

“I have to thank every single member of the team: Arno, Robin, Larry, Florian and Lucas. They put in 110% and I am so grateful to all of them.”
