Paris - Here We Are!

The sun is setting over Paris, the Champs-Élysées beautifully dressed in yellow, and the world’s biggest bike race finds its conclusion in the heart of the city - with Tudor Pro Cycling finishing the second Tour de France in the Team’s history.

It’s been an exceptionally hard Grand Boucle: record-breaking average speeds, scorching temperatures, and flat-out racing on every stage.

The Team headed to the Grand Départ in Barcelona with the goal of chasing stage glory. The first week was tough, and the dropouts of Arvid De Kleijn and Matteo Trentin were major setbacks. But the opening week - and in particular, stage 8 to Bergerac - also marked the very first Tour de France top-10 for Rick Pluimers, and it wouldn’t be the last in this Tour.

Transferring from west to east in week two, the Team ignited breakaway action, and - tackling his first Tour de France - Swiss climber Yannis Voisard steadily moved up the GC ranks; shifting the Team’s focus.

Week three - the pinnacle of a Grand Tour - is when tension builds and the race’s traditional climax reaches its peak on the high mountain stages. With a daring spirit and committed teamwork, Yannis Voisard consolidated his 11th spot in the GC on the brutal climbing days around the legendary Alpine town of Alpe d’Huez.

Heading to Paris, there was one more day of racing on the cards - and what a stage it was. Short and sharp Classics-style racing on the climb of Montmartre and Paris’s grand boulevard, the Champs-Élysées.

Rick Pluimers powered to another top-10 on the Tour de France’s final finish line, and Yannis Voisard takes home a very strong 11th spot in the general classification - Tudor Pro Cycling’s second Tour de France is history!

Yannis Voisard:

“To finish 11th overall in my first Tour de France is exceptional. I came here aiming for the general classification, but I had never tried to push my body to its absolute limits over three weeks before. Now I know what that feels like.

I took the race day by day, managed my effort well, and I’m extremely happy to come away with 11th place. It’s simply an incredible result.”

Rick Pluimers:

“Racing here on the Champs-Élysées was amazing and it’s a childhood dream come true. Growing up, I watched the world’s best sprinters battle it out here, and to now be sprinting for a Top-10 finish myself is something I really enjoyed.

A few years ago, I never thought this would be possible. Tomorrow I’ll be really proud of what I achieved today and throughout this whole Tour. It’s been an amazing experience.“

“Summarizing our Tour de France: a tough Tour start with a beautiful end!

Our clear goal was a stage win and giving Yannis the chance to test himself for a GC result at his very first Tour de France. Leading up to the last week, it became clear that Yannis was going very strong in the GC, so the focus shifted to protecting him and his position in the overall classification. Everyone was committed to this goal, and the boys showed great spirit - this really makes me proud. Of course, we didn’t achieve the goal of scoring a stage win here, but by focusing on the process and what we’re building for the future, I think we can be satisfied with this Tour de France.”
