Ready to Tackle Second Giro d’Italia

8.05.2025

The 108th edition of the Giro d’Italia kicks off tomorrow in Durres, Albania — marking a historic first for both the race and the sport of cycling. Tudor Pro Cycling returns for its second Giro with a determined squad poised to face a grueling challenge: 21 stages, 3,410 kilometers, and a staggering 52,500 meters of climbing.

Leading the charge is Michael Storer, fresh off a top-10 finish last year and a recent victory at the Tour of the Alps. The Australian arrives in Albania confident and composed.“I’m feeling great,” Storer said. “My fitness is better than ahead of any Grand Tour I’ve done so far. That comes from experience — I’ve simply learned to do things better. Since joining the Team, I've made steady progress. They've supported me in refining the areas I needed to improve.”

While Storer has his sights set on the general classification, he's clear about his priorities:“I’ll be satisfied if I race to my full potential. That could mean a top-10 finish, a stage win, or just pushing through tough moments. But of course, I want to deliver results.”

Sports Director Matteo Tosatto echoed this balanced approach: “Michael is our GC contender, but he’s not our only card. We’ll be targeting stage wins too, and we’ve got several riders capable of seizing those opportunities.”

One of them is German National Champion Marco Brenner, making his Grand Tour return after debuting in the 2022 Vuelta. “I’m excited to be back at a Grand Tour, especially wearing the German Champion’s jersey,” said Brenner. “The past couple of years have had their ups and downs, but I’ve grown through it. I’m confident and in good form — and ready to go for breakaway opportunities.”

Three riders will make their Grand Tour debuts: Dutch duo Rick Pluimers and Maikel Zijlaard, both eyeing the sprint stages, and Swiss climber Yannis Voisard. “Racing the Giro has been a dream since I was a kid,” said Voisard. “But this isn’t the end goal. I’m here to learn and to support Michael every step of the way over the next three weeks, especially in the mountain stages.”

The Giro d’Italia kicks off tomorrow, Friday 9 May, and will end on the 1st of June in Roma.
