The Tudor Pro Cycling Development Team is gearing up to launch an exciting new season at the Umag Classic in Croatia, building on a legacy of progress and a commitment to nurturing cycling’s future stars.

We’ve visited the Team at their winter training base in Jávea, Spain and spoke to Jens Voet, Head of Development at Tudor Pro Cycling and former pro rider Alex Krieger, who has joined the Development Team as Sports Director.

Aiming High in 2026

For 2026, the Team’s ambitions are clear. The Devo Team aims to excel in major U23 races such as the Giro Next Gen, Tour de Bretagne, and the historic inclusion of trade teams at the Tour de L'Avenir. But racing is just one part of the story. The Team is dedicated to developing every aspect of its riders - mentally, physically, and tactically; to create well-rounded professionals ready for the sport’s highest levels.

A Winter in Spain

To foster growth and camaraderie, the Team spent the winter months together in Spain, renting a house to serve as a training base and camp venue.

Jens Voet, Head of Development at Tudor Pro Cycling on the benefits of the Team house in Jávea:

“Our house in Spain serves as the ideal winter training base, especially for riders from northern Europe, where training during the winter can be challenging. Having a second home in Spain provides significant advantages for consistent winter preparation.“

Living, cooking, and training side by side, riders not only honed their skills but strengthened the bonds that make a great Team.

For Jens, the benefits of the Team house also go beyond training and preparation for the season:

"Beyond training, the house also fosters team bonding. Enjoying time together—whether training, cooking, or simply getting to know each other off the bike - is essential for strong Team performance throughout the season.“

For Alex Krieger, this winter marked a seamless transition. From retiring as a pro cyclist to embracing the role of a Sports Director with the Development Team. Despite spending countless hours behind the steering wheel of the Team car and even more in front of his computer, the 34-year-old German is still spotted on two wheels during the training camps:

“I focus on developing technical skills with the riders on the bike and helping them level up their game. It’s also easier to bond on the bike, especially since I’ve been a rider myself. I really enjoy this work, and so far, I’ve received positive feedback from the Team. I hope I can continue to contribute and be beneficial in all areas.“

Kicking off the season in Croatia

With the season start approaching, Jens Voet gives out the Team’s goals for the two one-day races and the stage race coming up in Croatia this week:

"As we approach our first races in Croatia, these events will serve as an initial test, but we are also eager to make an impression and demonstrate the progress made over the winter. While achieving results would be rewarding, our primary focus remains on the process and excelling as a team."

Investing in Talent

Scouting and talent development remain at the heart of Tudor Pro Cycling’s Development philosophy. Aspiring riders can apply directly via the team’s website, while international Talent Days and Swiss Test Days offer unique opportunities for promising cyclists to showcase their abilities and recommend themselves for a spot on the Team.

Jens Voet explains the expanded Scouting strategy for 2026:

“Regarding scouting, we are expanding our Test Days concept to multiple countries across Europe, giving more riders the opportunity to participate and allowing us to introduce them to our Development program and philosophy. Our aim is to discover new talent and make our Development structure both accessible and appealing to young riders.“

With the completion of Tudor Pro Cycling’s new Headquarters in Sursee, Switzerland, Jens expects strongly elevated standards of professionalism and organizational structure for the Devo riders:

“We are especially looking forward to our new headquarters in Switzerland, which will not only provide a home for our Development Team but also elevate our standards of professionalism and organizational structure for our riders.“

A Proven Pathway

Over the past seasons, the Development Team has seen remarkable success, with five riders progressing to the Pro Team. This achievement underscores the Team’s core mission: preparing young athletes for professional cycling careers. The journey is not just about racing - it’s about learning, embracing challenges, and turning experience into progress.
