Simon Pellaud capped off a strong American season by securing second place in the overall standings of the prestigious Life Time Grand Prix series. His 8th-place finish at Big Sugar Gravel - the final event of the series - was enough to lock in his position on the general classification podium.

Severe weather was forecast for northwestern Arkansas, with threats of large hail and damaging winds. As a precaution, organizers shortened the original 100-mile course by half, though riders still faced rugged dirt roads on the Missouri side of the route.

With the overall classification on the line, the GC contenders kept a close eye on each other, neutralizing the race at the front and allowing a breakaway group to contest the stage win. Simon finished 4th in the sprint among the chasers, a result that secured his runner-up spot in the final GC.

“With the shorter course, today ended up being two hours of full-gas racing at almost 40 km/h” Simon said. “We arrived as a bunch, which was not my favourite scenario. I would have preferred harder racing, but the shorter distance didn’t allow for that. I finished eighth today, second of the four candidates for the GC podium, so I finished second overall. I am very happy with this result and my American campaign, especially my second place at Unbound and thirs at Leadville. I would not have expected such results when we started the gravel adventure a few months ago.”
