Tudor Pro Cycling lines up for its home race this week as the Tour de Romandie gets underway in Villars tomorrow. Six days of racing will cover roughly 850 kilometres and 14,000 metres of climbing, concluding with a demanding summit finish in Leysin on Sunday.

This year’s edition is set to be one of the toughest, opening with the traditional prologue before five challenging stages, where repeated climbs and unpredictable weather could play a decisive role throughout the week.

Racing on home roads, Tudor Pro Cycling brings a Swiss-driven squad led by locals Yannis Voisard and Robin Donzé. German Marco Brenner shares leadership duties, while Marius Mayrhofer will look to seize opportunities on the hillier stages.

They are supported by a solid group of domestiques in Roland Thalmann, Joel Suter, and Jacob Eriksson, giving the team depth across all terrains.

At the opening press conference, Yannis Voisard, Robin Donzé, Marco Brenner and Sports Director Morgan Lamoisson shared their views on the week ahead.

Yannis Embraces Leadership Role

For Yannis Voisard, this marks his fourth appearance at Romandie: “Tour de Romandie has been in my program from the start. As a Romand, it’s one of my favourite races of the season. The route is great, and the current weather conditions should make for an exciting race.”

After an early-season high with victories in AlUla and good performance in Algarve, Yannis arrives motivated after recent setbacks: “I want to enjoy the race this week and make the most of the opportunity.”

Looking ahead, “Stage 4 from Broc to Charmey is considered the Queen Stage, but a lot depends on the weather. A headwind in the valley heading to Charmey could impact the outcome, whereas the final climb to Leysin on Sunday is purely about climbing - the last kilometres are very hard.”

Robin Ready for Home Debut

At 22, Robin Donzé is set for his first Tour de Romandie appearance - and on familiar roads.

“It’s a great opportunity to start this race in my home region,” he said. “We don’t get many chances to race in Switzerland, so it’s important to enjoy it.”

The Swiss rider comes in with solid early-season form and confidence after racing the Ardennes classics: “I’ve had a good preparation without major interruptions, and I hope that continues this week. I know a lot of the roads here, and I hope this will turn in our favor.”

Marco Shares Co-Leadership

Marco Brenner returns for his fifth participation, bringing valuable experience to the team’s GC ambitions. “I had a last-minute call-up for Liège, which was a good opportunity to test the legs. I haven’t raced much recently, so I’m looking forward to getting back into rhythm.”

Marco expects a demanding race from the outset:

“The prologue will already be important for the general classification. Without a longer time trial, the race becomes more aggressive and harder overall. We’ll take it day by day and see how both Yannis and I feel. The region is beautiful and the weather looks good, so we are excited for this week of racing in Romandie!”

Clear Goals for the Week

Sports Director Morgan Lamoisson highlighted the importance of the race for the Team:

“Tour de Romandie is a key event for us, racing in Switzerland close to our Service Course and partners. With the current UCI ranking system, every race counts.”

“This year’s route is extremely hard - it’s difficult to imagine a tougher edition. The prologue could already create some gaps. We want to fight for a stage win, as we could already achieve in 2024, and aim for a Top-10 in the General Classification. Yannis and Marco are our protected riders, while the rest of the Team will look to anticipate moves.”

The presence of Tadej Pogačar adds another dimension to the race, though not necessarily changing Tudor’s approach. “We’re not targeting the overall win, so his presence doesn’t directly affect our tactics - but it will certainly influence how the race unfolds.”
