The Monument season kicked off yesterday under spring skies in Italy, as the peloton tackled 298 km from Pavia to the Ligurian coast. A strong Team effort throughout the day guided the leaders to the front all the way to the Cipressa, when the responsibility shifted to Matteo Trentin and Julian Alaphilippe. In his 12th appearance at Milano-Sanremo, the Italian veteran delivered another strong performance, sprinting to 6th in his group to secure 9th place overall.
It marks his fourth Top-10 finish in La Classicissima di Primavera: "the easiest race to finish, yet the hardest to win".
